This project was an attempt to make the KING JAMES BIBLE of 1611 available to public school children as a literature textbook.
The reason was obvious: the King James Bible is the finest work of English prose ever written, has been more widely read than any other English literary composition, and has directly influenced the history of the world more than any other book ever published.
Yet, tragically, public school children are denied the opportunity to even read it.
Please note, there are some who refuse to take a principled stand for the King James Bible, yet they see a money-making opportunity in selling “Bible as Literature" textbooks. These hypocrites will claim the Bible is literature, yet they would have the children read their overpriced tomes instead of the Bible!
“For the love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:20).
Those peddling “Bible as Literature” textbooks exchange the AV’s powerful, majestic, moving, and timeless language for modernistic pabulum found in the alphabet soup of modern Bible paraphrases.
These poor, sloppy imitations of the timeless AV are not worthy of serious study.
The “Bible as Literature” textbooks appeal to those who despise the AV, despite its unrivaled literary success, because of issues of their own doctrinal sectarianism. These sullen folks are simply religious bigots opposed to the study of recognized literature.
The authors of these “Bible as Literature” textbooks contextualize the scriptures with themes that trivialize as mythology the Biblical historical account. They also promote the textbook authors’ own humanistic bias. Yet the King James text by itself, without any glossy pictures or biased commentary, is all that is needed.
We can confidently assert that the AV 1611, after four hundred years of world championship, is the DEFINITIVE English Bible version for all time.
In fact, the Authorized Version of the English Bible is more than great literature. Bible Believers recognize it as God's very words, the oracles of God, in English.
The proposed study of the KJB in the California schools was a good proposition that failed due to lack of support and vicious opposition.
The Bible text is particularly offensive to the prevailing humanistic dogma. This is because in the Bible God sovereignly interferes with man’s attempt to control his own history. The Bible reality is that God runs the world.
Thus the Bible cannot be “tolerated” by the “broad-minded” perverts who run the educational establishment. This is the reason why the Bible will never be allowed back into the American public schools.
